Psychology Staff in Post and Trainee Variables

Staff in Post data are extracted from Psychology Workforce Database approximately two weeks after the quarterly census date (31 March, 30 June, 30 September, 31 December), according to the following conditions:

  • Start date is less than or equal to [census date]
  • End date is greater than or equal to [census date] OR is NULL
  • Appointment type is Clinical Psychology Services

Vacancy data are returned quarterly by NHS boards, using an excel template provided.

Trainee data are extracted from the NES Turas database, and include all people who have undertaken training in NHScotland from 2006 to the present, on the following courses:

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the Universities of Glasgow or Edinburgh
  • MSc Psychological Therapy in Primary Care
  • MSc Applied Psychology for Children and Young People
  • Child and Adolescent Psychodynamic Psychotherapists
  • Stage 2 Health Psychology
