Employment data by sex have been revised for 31 March 2012 to 31 December 2021 census in the NHSScotland workforce dashboard. These changes are small (less than 10 headcount) and do not alter the conclusions or the overall key message of the previously published material. The total employment figures are unchanged.

Whole time equivalent, WTE, by sex are similarly affected, but the change remains small (less than 10 WTE). There will be small changes to other breakdowns by sex, for example by job family and sex.

The discrepancy arose due to an unexpected change in the processing of the 31 March 2022 census data within the NES workforce database. This required a re-load of some historical data, during which we suspect the sex of a small number of individuals was updated. Whilst we do not expect this issue to arise again, we have put measures in place to allow more accurate identification of such changes.
