Metric descriptions and metadata

Metric title: People registered to use MyCare.scot

Description: This metric counts the total number of people who have completed the registration process for MyCare.scot since records began, up to the stated report date.

Data source description: MyCare.scot collects data when a person registers for the service. The National Digital Platform (NDP) Identity and Authentication Service records this activity and maintains a list of everyone who has registered to access MyCare.scot.

Use of personal information: We do not collect or include any personally identifiable information to calculate this metric or in this publication. You can view the MyCare.scot privacy statement at: https://mycare.scot/public/information/privacy

Methodology: We record a registration event when a person verifies their identity through the Scottish Government's ScotAccount service and when MyCare.scot matches this information to their Community Health Index (CHI number). The National Digital Platform manages and stores this account matching.

The National Digital Platform provides a dashboard that automatically reports the total number of registrations recorded to date. This dashboard supplies the data for this publication.

This management information does not require any external data sources or additional processing. We plan to automate updates as much as possible as part of the ongoing MyCare.scot Reporting and Analytics roadmap.

Geography: This metric reports a single national value for Scotland.

Start date: from January 2026 (one month after the service went live in its initial form, to allow time for data collation).

Metric timeframe: cumulative total across all time.

Snapshot frequency: monthly, on the first Monday of each month.

Caveats:

  • We publish management information within 1 week of the start of the month.
  • Differences in month length mean that time periods may not be directly comparable.
  • The publication reports current information. We may revise historic if we identify errors, and we will clearly note any changes we make.
